The Library has launched a makerspace! Tap into your full creative potential by learning interesting and useful skills, from 3D pens to cutting vinyl decals, or drop in during the Makerspace Open Hours indicated below with your own project.

A makerspace is a place where creative people can gather, create, invent, and learn.  Library patrons have access to variety of tools that you can use for free. Want to work on your own creative project, explore your own ideas, ask questions, or collaborate with other local makers? Visit us today!

1st floor of the library.  Walk past the reference desk, second door in front of you.

Makerspace Guidelines

  1. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  2. Be respectful of others in the area.
  3. Clean up after yourself.
  4. Legos, Strawbees and other creations will remain in the library. Be sure to take a picture of your creations and share it with us!
  5. Ask for help at the Circulation desk if you’re not sure about something.
  6. Computer area is for Library Staff Only.
  7. We provide equipment only.

Paper, vinyl, cameras and green screen apps must be supplied by the patron.

The following Makerspace equipment requires training or reservation:

Cricut Expression Vinyl CutterPicture of Cricut Expression machine

Please Note: This machine is no longer supported by the Cricut Design Center. It only works with cartridges

 

Patrons must bring their own vinyl and paper materials.

Available cartridges: Disney Classics, Mickey Font, Winter Wonderland, Holiday Snowflakes, Family Album, Independence Day, Monster Bash, Anna's Decorative Monograms, Snow Day, Victorian Romance, Creative Holiday Cards, Storybook, Sophisticated, Life is a Beach, Sesame Street Celebrations, Art Philosophy, Simply Charmed

3D Magic PenPicture of 3D Magic Pen Please note: This machine operates at high-temperatures that can cause burns or other injury. Use with extreme caution. 3D  pens need to be reserved 24 hours in advance. Call 913-758-3041 for more information. The library provides limited filament for 3D pens.
